Paul specialises in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious trust and pensions law. Since his qualification as a solicitor into the pensions department of a major City firm in 1995, Paul has advised institutional and individual clients on the creation, administration and termination of all manner of pensions arrangements, and associated litigation, and is widely regarded as Guernsey’s only longstanding pensions specialist. Since arriving in Guernsey in 1999 Paul has widened his practice to include general trust and fiduciary work. He also handles numerous disputes arising from trust and pension matters, and has been involved in many of Guernsey’s leading trust cases in recent years.
Legal 500 has consistently ranked Paul as one of Guernsey’s two leading trust practitioners and Paul is also highly rated in other leading legal reviews. In the 2010 Citywealth Leaders List, Paul was awarded the status of Prominent Figure in the area of contentious trusts, reflecting not only his expertise in that field but also his commitment to professional education, which sees him as a frequent participator in events in Guernsey and elsewhere. Paul is one of only a few experts who have attended and spoken at every one of the Legal Week Trust Litigation Fora over the last five years.
Paul is a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists, to whom he gives what has now become an annual address updating the Association on developments in Channel Island trust law and practice. Elsewhere, Paul has published articles in journals such as the STEP Review and Trusts & Trustees.
